Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has asked the administration of central universities across the country to fill up 6,000 vacant positions and issue the advertisements for the same by the end of today, September 10, in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The education minister had asked the vice-chancellors to issue the advertisements for the vacancies by the end of the day today, and the recruitment drive for over 6,000 posts should be complete by October, as per the NEP 2020.
Education Minister Pradhan, while talking to the VCs, said,
“6,229 posts are vacant, out of which 1,012 posts are in SC category, 592 from ST category, 1,767 from OBC category, 805 from EWS category and 355 from divyang category.
The President will address on September 5 and the Prime Minister on September 7 on the occasion of Teachers’ Day 2021. Let us work on a mission mode to fill up the posts.
There could be a few anomalies but by September 10, all universities should have advertised.”

Apart from this, the education minister asked all the VCs to make sure that the academic routine for all the universities gets back to normal. The academic calendar has been disrupted for the past 1.5 years due to the COVID pandemic and online classes.
He also said that students have a right to protest as we live in a democracy, and the vice-chancellors should make sure that the academic calendar is not disturbed because of any such incident.

Education Minister Pradhan said that the universities can decide when and how to roll out four-year undergraduate degree courses as per their convenience as these things take time. He also said that students and teachers should be consulted for this from 2022.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Shikshak Parv 2022 on September 7, he also talked about the efforts of teachers to maintain the learning curve during this time. He also launched new initiatives to make learning more accessible for all students.
